HICT 1-day workshop: pitching and presentation skills for doctoral candidates and researchers
Workshop for HICT doctoral students and researchers in Aalto University and the University of Helsinki.
HICT, the Helsinki Doctoral Education Network in Information and Communications Technology, organizes a science communication workshop for HICT doctoral students and researchers in Aalto University and the University of Helsinki. The workshop is sponsored by HIIT.
Kaskas Media is a Finnish company specialised in science communication training for researchers. HICT’s 1-day workshop will cover a set of topics focusing especially on pitching and presentation skills. The training builds around one small pre-assignment, teaching sessions, and tasks that the students will complete together with two coaches from Kaskas Media.
The workshop comprises two 3-hour sessions, and students will be credited 1 ECTS if they complete both sessions. Note! Participants will also be expected to present their research pitch in public at a further HICT or HIIT event. The detailed programme will be announced at the workshop webpage.
Pitch training: How can I speak about my research in a clear, convincing, and inspiring way? How can I take into account different audiences? Note! This session includes one small pre-assignment: prepare a few slides about your research.
Visualisation of research results: How do I visualise my research effectively? This session includes tips and free tools for blog postings, posters, and presentations.
Social media: How do I get everything out of Twitter? How do I get my text to spread? How do I publicly comment on different topics?
Please, register through this link by 19th November.
